Radar loops will give you a loop for the past 6
radar images but will take a longer time to
download. Radar images will only give you the
mostrecent radar image for the region, but it
will take much less time to download and view.
Satellite imagery generally shows the visible or
infrared portion of the spectrum. Visible
satellite imagery gives an actual
"picture" of the region and thus has
limited use at night. Infrared imagery is based
on the temperature of an object and will give you
a "view" of the region both night and
day. Satellite imagery does though often produce
large file sizes, thus the download times on
slower modems can be lengthy.
